Sample Unit Plan
I have spent the last few years studying both traditional and modern approaches to learning and education. Below is a link which shows a formerly used unit plan focused on the Industrial Revolution. This is simply one example of ways in which I've applied these approaches to the classroom.
In this unit plan, you will find lesson plans that highlight technology, accessing prior knowledge, differentiation, group projects, teacher lead discussion, student lead discussions, primary document use, and student lead learning.
The best knowledge in content that I can give towards middle grades is the idea that middle school students are capable of the extraordinary if they are given the chance. Education is their chance to branch out, explore new things, investigate the unknown, and ask questions. They are capable of all of these things and so much more if we just let them! I am a firm believer in a classroom where both the teacher and the students work together to create an interesting curriculum based off of the things that they should know combined with the things they want to know.
